On Wednesday, 7-7-99, the STAR ATM SIG met at Mike Lindner's house. Attending were Balaji Ramani (a potential new member), John Gasparini, Don Odegard, David Segelstein, Rob and John Teeter, Jim Geddis, and of course, Mike Lindner.
Don brought a copyscope he made a while ago. In true Don fashion, it is built to withstand several nuclear wars. He lent it to Rob, as Rob is planning on making one. For those who are not familiar with the term, a copyscope is a small refractor whose objective lens is from a copier machine or similar piece of equipment. They are usually fairly heavy and very short. Some copy scope articles on the internet:

Mike showed off his new mirror cell. When Jim arrived, we all went downstairs to ``cut wood.'' Jim was installing a secondary heater on his 18" starmaster. While David and Jim worked on that, Mike and Balaji foucault tested a 6" f/8.5 mirror that Balaji is working on, and the others worked on sanding Ed Collet's 12.5" telekit. David brought paint for the club scope tube, but we never got around to slapping it on. Rob donated some 8" ABS tubing to cut altitude bearings for the club scope. We talked about current and future projects as we worked.
