Eclipse Photos by Paul Magnuson

Paul Magnuson and his wife recently traveled to France for vacation.
It happened to be at the same time as the total eclipse this year,
and the location happened to be on the centerline of the eclipse.
Given that series of coincidences, Paul was delighted to take the opportunity
to record a few images of the event.

The photo above shows the location they chose, the Abbaye de Jumieges,
which is 15 miles from Rouen, down the River Seine.
That photo shows the normal scene prior to the eclipse.
How dark does it get during a total eclipse?

This scene is lit in the foreground by the camera flash.
The camera was a simple, automatic 35mm,
but it accurately and dramatically recorded the darkness.

When Paul turned his lens toward the sky, he managed to record...

... the approaching totality, and ...

... and a view of totality that has some of the
"diamond ring" effect, and some solar activity displayed.
A nice record of the experience, Paul!
